Welcome to Tromsø University Museum

Tromsø Museum is the oldest scientific institution in North Norway, established in 1872 and incorporated in the University of Tromsø in 1976. The museum consists of 6 scientific departments: Geology, Botany, Zoology, Archaeology, Cultural History and Sámi Ethnography. Each department has large collections, documenting more that 100 years of research in North Norway and other northern regions. The exhibitions are open for the public, and each year approx. 50,000 people visit this museum. You, too, are welcome!
