ASK - The Norwegian Second Language CorpussThe Norwegian Second Language Corpus project (ASK) aims at establishing an electronic, searchable text corpus of Norwegian as a second language, with links between linguistic data and personal data. A corpus of Norwegian as a second language will make it possible to use quantitative methods in second language research, and it will provide a basis for pedagogical developments. “Gå utenom!” (“Round about!”). "Evig eies kun det tapte” (Lit.: “Only the lost is eternally owned” / More poetically: “Singly lost, eternally gained”) We know the questions. We may also know that they are from Ibsen, but from which source? In addition to the text collection and annotation procedure in The Norwegian Newspaper Corpus, the set of corpus tools daily creates a list of newly encountered word forms. Each word form of all the new texts is compared against a comprehensive list of known word forms. This list is a compilation that includes all word forms gathered in connection with various corpus and lexicographical projects carried out at Aksis over the years, including the full form lexicon Bokmålsordboka and the lexical resources developed in connection with the Oslo-Bergen Corpus and tagger. The EAD converter will try to convert a given catalogue file in a native format to an XML or SGML encoding file using EAD (Encoded Archival Description)- as the DTD. |
