Workshop on Very Large Floating Structures (VLFS)

Significant progress has already been made in using floating bridges in protected areas and floating offshore structures in severe environments. The basis for designing and operating floating airports, ports/terminals, aquacultural plants as well as wave and wind energy plants have also been significantly developed over the last decade.

The Mega-float project in Japan and MOB in USA are especially noted.

In order to establish state-of-the art within this area and address future challenges, Centre for Ships and Ocean Structures (CeSOS) organized a Workshop in Trondheim on October 28th and 29th 2004.

The state of art within the Megafloat and MOB projects were presented, and challenges in connection with predicting wave-induced behaviour of future marine structures was focused upon.

The first day of the workshop 7 invited speakers presented state of the art of VLFS. The second day 8 participants contributed with a short presentations.

The program and presentations can be found here.
