CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE – COLD WEATHER OPERATIONS
COE-CWO AIM
COE-CWO aim is to provide quality education in cold weather disciplines for selected trainers, as well as to facilitate and support training of troops and units.COE-CWO can tailor education and support training of headquarters and units from the operational to the tactical level.
WHY COLD WEATHER TRAINING?
Operating in a cold weather environment is a challenge. Absence of the proper training, equipment and attitude to meet such conditions will significantly reduce combat effectiveness and may ultimately lead to defeat. Being trained and equipped for cold weather operations makes adverse climate conditions a strong alley. Cold weather training in Norway has become a tradition for many nations.
COE-CWO OFFER
The Centre of Excellence for Cold Weather Operations (COE-CWO) at the Norwegian National Joint Headquarters facilitates such training for all our allies. The COE-CWO has been prepared to accommodate a variety of requirements, from individual to unit level training packages, certification, courses or advice. A programme tailored to your requirements will be developed in close cooperation with your planners. The Centre will conduct its own research in support of the Alliance’s transformation effort and is prepared to support Concept Development and Experimentation (CDE) initiatives.
The COE-CWO concept encompasses training areas, infrastructure, manpower and knowledge drawn from all the Norwegian Armed Forces.
