New Board Advisory Group for FK-Norway

Ananilea Nkeya from Tanzania (TAMWA), Stefan Howells from South Africa (SCORE) and Suvendu Chatterjee from India (Drik India) are appointed new members of the FK-Norway Advisory Board Group (BAG). Ruth Mwandira from Malawi (CHAM) has been re-appointed as

- I am very happy that all the four nominated group members have accepted the appointment and conformed their participation in the group for the next two years, says Per Kr. Lunden, chairman of the board of FK-Norway.

- Ideally this group should have been elected by all FK-partners, but a full democracy cannot be executed with a varied total of partners located in more than 50 countries. The board has therefore appointed the advisory group in the same manner that the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appoints the board itself. We have then been able to balance the group related to personal and institutional variables. The group shall of course have a gender balance as well as representatives from both Africa and Asia and FK-Youth and the main programme, says Lunden.

- We have also selected group members that we know as both outspoken and some times critical to FK-Norway. They all have long experience as partners with FK-Norway and are working well in the national networks of FK-partners, says Lunden.

To avoid confusion with the formal International Advisory Council at the FK-Forum the new name of the group will be FK-Norway Board Advisory Group (BAG).

The group will serve as advisors to the board of FK-Norway, through yearly meetings and e-mail contact. The BAG-members represent only themselves, not their organisation, professional sector, country or region.

The FK-Norway BAG has no formal position or responsibility in the FK-Norway organisation, but will give advise to the board directly through the chair of the board.

The FK-Norway BAG makes more detailed guidelines for their work in the first joint meeting (September 2007 in Norway).
