Mandate
Establishing the Advisory Group on Gender Issues is in line with the basic values of the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision. The Advisory Group shall ensure that the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision regularly seeks advice from professionals about the importance of gender in areas we are working with and in the way we work. The Advisory Group shall have both an advisory role and a development role in relation to the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision.
During the period 2005-2007, the Advisory Group shall be a resource group for an evaluation project, for which one of the members of the Advisory Group is project leader.
In addition, the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision can consult the Advisory Group about different matters, as appropriate.
The Advisory Group shall:
- raise the level of understanding of what a gender perspective involves for health and social services
- ensure availability of current knowledge about gender differences in relation to need for, utilization of and access to health and social services.
- ensure that risk and vulnerability assessments have gender-sensitive approaches
- help to integrate a gender perspective in administrative procedures and other internal processes.
Establishing the Advisory Group
The members of the Advisory Group are appointed by the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision for a period of two years. Reappointment can be considered after two years.
The Advisory Group shall be a multi-disciplinary group of people with relevant experience and skills. The members shall have experience from research, teaching, administration and/or health and social services. The members shall be both men and women. An appropriate number of members is between seven and nine.
A meeting of the Advisory Group shall be held at least twice a year. The Norwegian Board of Health Supervision, in cooperation with the leader of the Advisory Group, has responsibility for arranging the meeting, inviting the members, preparing the agenda, writing the minutes of the meeting, and following up matters afterwards. The members can be asked to help to prepare items on the agenda, and can be given tasks to carry out between the meetings, related to the regular work of the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision or the evaluation project.
The minutes of the meetings are available on the internal website of the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision. The Norwegian Board of Health Supervision shall inform the Advisory Group about how matters have been followed up.
