DR416E Multivariate Data Analysis
About the Course The theme for the course is to provide a practical overview of several research methods. The overall purpose of the course is to provide a description of a number of different research methods and examples of how they may be applied to management research problems for the collection and analysis of data. Much of the course involves “hands-on” learning of the statistical techniques in a lab setting. Students will go home with an understanding of each of the techniques and when and how to use them to better understand analysis of data.
Practical Information The course will be arranged at Bodø University College Monday 18 of June to Thursday 21 of June. There is a registration fee at NOK 2600, which includes conference material and lunches, dinners as well as a trip on Tuesday. However, travel and accommodation arrangements are the students' own responsibility and cost. For accommodation, we will recommend Thon Hotel Nordlys in Bodø; address: Moloveien 14, Bodø; phone: +47 7553 1900; email: http://www.thonhotels.no/nordlys. The room prices are NOK 740 per night per person (single room). In order to get this price, please state that you are participating in a course arranged by Bodø University College (Høgskolen i Bodø) when you book your hotel room.
Student Credits Participation at this course may give 10 Norwegian PhD student credits (equal to 1/3 of a semester load). In order to gain these credentials, the student will have:
- to submit an abstract by the 20 of May, 2007
- participate in the course, and
- submit a paper relating to multivariate data analysis issues within 1 of October 2007.
Faculty Faculty will be Professor Joe F. Hair, Jr., Kennesaw State University, USA, and Professor Arthur Money, Henley Management College, UK.
Deadlines The deadline for registration is 20 of May 2007. Please submit the electronic registration form. Also, please send your abstract and your CV as attached documents on e-mail to: Liv.Nilssen@hibo.no . Because of limited space in the computer lab, we can allow maximum 20 PhD students to participate. If more than 20 register for the conference, we will give priority to the students who registered first.

Recommendations for the CV, Abstracts and Paper:
The CV should tell where in the PhD process you are, and your topic of interest. Max 250 words.
Recommendations for the Abstract The paper should not be more than 3 pages long. It should describe how you have gathered data (or how you plan to gather data), your research model, and how you intend to measure your constructs. This would make the abstract much like a short version of your method chapter/section. It could contain an appendix with your questionnaire.
Recommendations for the Paper The paper should be relating to multivariate data analysis, and not exceed 30 pages.
