Being located on the seaside, Bodø offers a perfect environment for studies within fisheries, marine sciences and natural sciences. The Department of Fisheries and Natural Sciences is one of the leading academic environments within fisheries and fish farming in Norway.
The department has good facilities for training and research. In the main building we have chemistry and biology laboratories. With a 15-minute walk from the main building, you will find Mørkvedbukta. Mørkvedbukta is a centre for research in fish farming. The department focuses on studies that are trade oriented and professional. Our students are trained to be competent and result-oriented employees in the traditional fisheries, fish farms, the nutrition industry and within the administration of these. Our courses are especially designed for students interested in working within the marine industry and sciences, but our alumni work within a variety of trades. All our programs are interdisciplinary and integrate natural sciences, technological and business subjects.
