Buses, trains, boats, ferries, and underground may be municipal, regional, governmental or private, but all participate in a common ticket system.

Single tickets are quite expensive (NOK 22, NOK 30 when bought on buses and trams). However, substancial reductions are available with different cards for one day (NOK 60), one week (NOK 210) or one month (NOK 720) (student card 430) or a coupon for 8 trips (160 NOK).

There are more than 20 bus routes within the city boundaries. These buses have a route number consisting of 2 figures.

There are also nightly departures on Friday nights and Saturday nights. There is a single fee of NOK 50. No cards are valid. In most cases, these buses are much cheaper than a taxi and easier to get hold of.
