Invitation to Oslo University College October 9th-13th 2006

Window to the world is a week of “Internationalisation at home” at the Faculty of Education.  During this week we want to replace all our ordinary classes in Early Childhood Education with related subjects seen from an international angle. One of the aims is to show our students the variations in the concept of early childhood education in Europe – so hereby we invite you to come to Oslo and make your contributions known.

Our international week will focus on the following:

• Offer our students academic input from abroad
• Engage the students and staff in discussions, workshops, theoretical and practical work etc
• Inspire students to take part of their studies abroad- Invite you to take part in discussions and workshop with our students and colleagues form different institutions
• Give you an opportunity to present your favourite themes

We encourage you to arrive Sunday 8th of Oct, as we start up Monday 9th of Oct at 9.30 AM with a presentation from the Head of the International Office.

The main subject will, as mentioned above, be early childhood education. Otherwise our guests are free to choose their themes, methods and means of communication. We would like the lecturers to speak about subjects they are engaged in and are eager to transmit to students and staff members. What you offer can be theory or practice or experimental, innovative, reflective, serious, fun – you name it. Maybe you would like to give our students a taste of your international courses or courses in English?

The presentations may be held in English or in one of the Scandinavian languages. 

What do we offer?

• We offer good company and well equipped classrooms.
• We offer participation in an international setting and encounters with our students and staff
• We will book you into a hotel near the college. Rooms are booked from Sunday 8th of Oct.
• We will, most certainly, exchange experiences and discuss educational issues among good colleagues and students.

Erasmus Teacher Exchange

In order to make this event become a success, we are depending on you to apply for teacher/staff exchange grants from the Erasmus Teacher Exchange Program or, for our Nordic partners, the Nordplus Program.

We hope that we, through your contributions, can make this week happen.   

Please fill in the enclosed registration form to inform us about your arrival, what your contribution will be and what equipment you need for your presentation. We would like to know about your participation as soon as possible and no later than the 18th of September.

A detailed program will be distributed around the 20th of September.
