Humans have always tried to find different ways to manipulate their natural environment and explore and exploit natural resources. Through experiments and innovation and human`s longing for technological advancements, new materials have been created.

The link between science and industry and collaborations between different fields and sectors have intensified and evolved new possibilities for methods of manufacturing. This has created a new technological landscape for the creation of electronic and engineered textiles, as well as the future of advanced materials based on nanotechnology and biotechnology.

Some of these new materials as some of those based on gene-modification are controversial and challenge the human ethics and our environmental concern. Our relationship to material thereby includes social and moral issues, as we have to consider whether it is acceptible or not to use materials that are results of manipulation and modification that threatens the ethics of both humans and nature.

In my paper I draw a line fram the sources of raw materials to their end applicattions, embracing and questioning how technology and innovation have influenced the manufacture and design methods of textiles.

On the way I am pinpointing facts on regard and future ideas on material related to material as a resource, from the fabricated and produced fiber and yarn to the final deliverance as a cloth either designed or created for artistic purpose.

I am specifiying the importance of innovation and technology  related to the creation of textiles both within natural and man-made materials, with a specific regard on the use of eco-friendly materials.  I am further looking at how the development of textiles has advanced and taken innovative directions due to research and technology in science and industry, including the designers’ and artists’ imaginative ways of  manipulating  materials.

Humanipulatenature takes a close look at the human way of exploring and exploiting natural resources in aim of obtaining desired materials for specified use and applications.

Natuficial dives into the world of natural and artificials, taking a look at the boundaries between synthetic and natural materials.

Textremes focuses on the evolvement of materials and innovative techniques in textile manufacturing, and its synergy between fashion- and textile designers.

Lowstremes shows examples of the crossovers in creation and manufacturing of textiles and clothing, combining technology and tradition by using either low technology in combination with hitech materials or high technology with lotech materials.

Ecouture and Envirometic represent the challenges that we are facing now and in the future regarding the treathening of the eco-systems and our ethical responsibilty for the environment.
