Summary: Roots and Wings - Family Learning Supporting Diversity
‘The only lasting gifts we can give our children are strong roots from which to grow and wings so they can soar to great heights and achieve great things.’
Families are diverse places, where we learn some of our most fundamental values and attitudes. Family Learning offers a rich and inclusive medium to inspire learning and widen participation in education, within a learner-centred, responsive environment.
Drawing on research from the Campaign for Learning, the experiences of the UK’s National Family Learning Network and the fascinating work of LLU+ at London South Bank University, this lecture will explore the significant contribution of Family Learning to inclusive educational practice in a multicultural society.
