Prosjektleder: Camilla Eline Andersen
Varighet: Mars 2004 – Juni 2009
Finansiering: Stipendiatmidler
Prosjektbeskrivelse:
The aim of this project is to document and to develop a further understanding of contemporary praxis in day care centres in Norway, regarding issues linked to complexity and diversity. The project focuses on ethnicity and multiculturalism with a view of locating how marginal and dominant interests are constructed. In this way the project seeks to open up for multiple perspectives and to reveal if/how disqualified and marginalized interests and experiences are in evident in contemporary early childhood education.
Some of the research questions:
- What dominant and excluded discourses inform Norwegian early childhood education practices that consider or exclude issues of multiculturalism, complexity and diversity?
- What concepts are currently used to language and practice issues of multiculturalism and diversity in Norwegian early childhood education, and how can they be deconstructed?
- How is the fact that we live in a multicultural society visible/not visible in early childhood institutions?
- In what ways can the intersection between ethnicity, gender, sexuality and class be important for how subjects are allowed multiple subjectivities in every day practices?
The research will be inspired by ethnographical and feminist methodologies.
Epistemologically the research draws from feminist poststructural theories.
