- offers you both an instrumental and explorative way into the content of the site
- make use of multiple modes (text, animation, picture, video) in a conscious way, utilizing its different strengths for different types of information.
- suggests information that might interest you (on the front page and on sub pages generating lists of related content)
- use space economic, layerings of information; mouseover allows you to get additional information without having to navigate away from "where you are".

Gutenberg 

- wonderful content, atrocious presentation. Cringe at the sight of the cheesy Gothique font, groan at the presence of the "top 100",  "free!" and "donate" highlights. No it is not the gateway into a pyramid scheme, but a treasure house of human intellectual endeavor. Ouch.
