Simula Research Laboratory in Oslo (Norway) is a non-profit research centre that performs basic research, provides educational programs at master and PhD level, and creates new businesses within selected areas of information and communication technology. Simula Research Laboratory (SRL) has currently a staff of about 70 researchers. The center is financed by the ministry for education and research. The Department of  Networks and Distributed Systems has a staff of 22 researchers. The research area of the Department is Quality of Service (QoS) management for future distributed applications and services. The long term goal of the department is to determine the next generation of QoS enabled architectures and platforms for open, dynamically adaptable distributed systems.
In MADAM, SRL will contribute with its expertise in the areas of dynamic QoS management and adaptation in general-purpose component architectures, and engineering of adaptable middleware.
Simula will be project co-ordinator.

The project constitutes an excellent opportunity to apply and extend previous research results at SRL, to promote further collaborative research, and for advanced teaching activities. It may also offer an opportunity for SRL to contribute to the creation of new businesses.
