(None)

This page tells you how to:

  1. To sign in as project
  2. To add and edit a blog entry ("news")
  3. To insert an image, a link or attach a document
  4. To insert a video
  5. To restore earlier versions of a page
  6. To "watch" the Wiki-D space
  7. Notation guide

1.  To sign in as project

In Wiki-D "users" are not defined as people, but as projects. Hence log in with the acronym of the project you contribute to, and make sure you write

  • in lowercase, and
  • with underscore instead of space

e.g. digital_eye

2. To add and edit a blog entry ("news")

Go to "edit", select "new" in the dropdown menu and further "news" (news is the confluence wiki term for what we in Wiki-D use as enties. Add title, text and labels inside the edit-page that appears, and press "save".

In order to generate useful connections between related content, please do label your (and others) pages and blog entries. Simply press the "edit" button next to "Labels" on the page/blog entry and either select from the displayed labels or add new ones. In addition to the meta-labels or "tags" you give your blog entry (e.g. label_convergence), do also make sure you add an outcome label (e.g. outcome_book).

NB! You are working in one of three different optional modes when editing: Rich Text, Wiki Markup, Preview (buttons under title cell). Rich Text resembles a simple text editor in e.g. Word, is recommended and the default mode (if you use FireFox or recent versions of IE). Wiki Markup (resembles html) can however be helpful if you experience problems with formatting in Rich Text.

Useful to note when writing in Wiki-D

  • Use headings instead of bold (flash will not read bold as *word*)
  • Avoid space and æøå in attached file names
  • Being online editing, the Wiki-D wiki may not update your changes immediately. If your changes have not occured, wait a minute.

3. To insert an image, a link or attach a document

You have to save your new news-entry/page before attaching image to it. When saved, re-enter into edit mode and set the marker where you want the image to appear. Press the "insert/edit image" symbol (icon of a picture in the editor). Browse to your image and press "Attach". Press the icon of your image that now is available and choose whether you want the image to appear as a thumbnail or not, whether the image should be aligned or not so the text can float around it. Press "ok".

You can alter the image size by activating the image and resizing it while holding shift on your keyboard to keep the proportions.

..... link
Mark the words you want to turn into a link, and press the "insert/edit link" symbol (icon of a globe and chain in the editor). Paste the URL in the dialogue box that now appears, or search for the Wiki-d entry you want to link to.

..... attach a document
Select "attach" under "edit" and brows/attach your document. Enter into edit mode ("edit this page"), and swap from "Rich Text" to "Wiki Markup" and write [^dokumentnavn.pdf] where you want the attached document to appear as a link.

4. To insert a video

If you have recorded a video using your phone, its size might be small enough so that you can attach it directly to the page. If so, attach your video and write the file name with a question mark (!) before, and after, in "Wiki Markup" mode where you want the video to appear.

If the video is long and would take long for the user to open the page you would have attached it to, upload your video to YouTube. Copy the object tag that YouTube allows you to embed (look for "embed" on the page presenting the video). When editing your TransActions page, switch to "Wiki markup" mode

and paste the object tag where you want the video to appear on your page. Add the macro "

"
before, and after, the object tag.

5. To restore earlier versions of a page

To restore earlier versions of a page you need to view page history and select the version you would like to go back to. Select

  • "view"
  • "this page" in the dropdown menu
  • "page information".
On the bottom of the right side column you will find the "view page history" link. Press this link and you will be able to view different versions, and select the version you want to restore.

!

6. To "watch" the Wiki-D space

To "watch" or monitor the whole Wiki-D space by incoming e-mails, select

  • "view"
  • "other pages" from the drop down menu
  • "space activity".

When on the page displaying "page activity" you are now allowed to select

  • "view"
  • "this page" from the drop down menu
  • "watch this space".

7. Notation guide

In "Wiki markup" mode, elementary notation help appears in the right side column. For more help, press the link "full notation guide" in this column.

The Wiki-D site is not only a tool for the research group, but an object of research interest in itself. We approach this as research rhetoric. The site offers functionalities that are exploratory and customized add-ons to the functionalities given by the underlying wiki.
