The Norwegian GSM-R roll-out
The "GSM for railway" roll-out and implementation is one of the leading telecom projects in Norway. So far GSM-R is in operation on approximately half of the Norwegian railway lines. At the end of 2006 the whole railway network will have GSM-R coverage.

Double Track from Sandnes to Stavanger
The railway section between Sandnes and Stavanger station is 14,3 kilometers. The railway on the section is generally in poor condition and the technical installations have exceeded their technical and financial life span. Both rails and electro-installations are 40 years old and need to be replaced.

Ganddal Freight Terminal
Today, there is one freight terminal in Stavanger and one in Sandnes which both handle containers and carloads. On this background, a process of exploring the possibilities for a new freight terminal for the Stavanger area has been going on for some time. A development plan for a new freight terminal at Ganddal in the municipality of Sandnes has now been approved.
