HarbourBodø lies just north of the Arctic Circle and is located among awesome mountains and fjords. The Midnight Sun in the summer and the breathtaking Aurora Borealis, or northern lights, continually dazzle local residents and international students alike. Since Bodø is so far north, it can be cold, but not unbearably. The climate is surprisingly mild thanks to the Gulf Stream continuously bringing warm, moist air from the Caribbean. In summer temperatures can be quite warm, and in winter temperatures typically hang just above or below the freezing point. Residents of Bodø enjoy four distinct seasons and a full scope of outdoor recreation activities.

As the biggest city in Nordland County, Bodø is the regional centre of administration, education, culture, commerce and communication. Bodø's population of over 40.000 enjoys all the services and conveniences demanded in a modern college city. There are a variety of ethnic and Norwegian restaurants, cafes, pubs, nightclubs, concert venues, theatres, sporting events, museums, and cultural events to keep even the most active students entertained.
