The university rents out canoes, bicycles and skis to students to enjoy the outdoor surroundings. There are extensive cross-country ski / hiking trails in the hills surrounding the school. Bodø University College encourages its students to stay active and enjoy the beautiful natural setting around Bodø - climb Keiservarden for a spectacular view of the city, go to Svartisen glacier and hike on the ice, or hire a guide to take you deep-sea rafting. The possibilities are virtually endless for outdoor adventures in and around Bodø.

BOSI is the student group that arranges all sorts of sporting activities for students at BUC. They currently offer: men's and women's football, basketball, handball, climbing, floorball, kickboxing, karate, squash, volleyball, badminton and the "funky jazz group" just to name a few.

Many students and faculty at Bodø University College are members of Friskhuset, the local fitness centre. Located just two minutes from campus, it offers strength training equipment, cardiovascular equipment such as treadmills, bikes, stair climbers and rowing machines. They also offer courses several times a day that include many different levels of spinning, aerobics, cross-training, rowing, yoga, and "body pump", a high intensity total-body workout. In addition, there are pools, saunas, and a daycare facility. Friskhuset works together with the Student Welfare Organisation and provide special prices and flexible contracts for students.
