There will be approximately 9-11 main speakers at the conference giving approximately 1 hour plenary talks in the morning sessions and then there will be special sessions in the afternoon. The main speakers will be announced as they are clear, and the scientific committee aims at announcing all of them prior to 2 February 2008. The scientific committee will decide on the program of special sessions with organizers and announce the result by 1 March 2008. As part of the decision procedure the committee is also soliciting independent suggestions for special sessions, see below. The session organizers (independent or not) is given a deadline of October 4 2008 to send the final definite program of the session, following the outline below.
Each Special Session should have 3 - 8 speakers (we are flexible). In order to allow the maximum movement between sessions for all participants, Special Session speakers will be scheduled for either a 20-minute talk or a 40-minute talk according to the talk schedule

Independent proposals of Special Sessions must be received by the deadline January 1, 2008, and submitted by e-mail to the chairman of the scientific committee, Ola Bratteli (bratteli@math.uio.no) with a cc to Ragnar Edgren Pettersen ragnarep@math.uio.no. Late proposals will not be considered.
Please be sure to submit as detailed a proposal as possible for review by the Scientific Committee. The seating capacity of the seven lecture rooms are 34, 60, 60, 76, 186, 196 and 456 respectively, so if you have an inkling about the interest of the special session, then give us a hint (We estimate the total number of participants in the conference to be 300). All potential session organizers will be notified of acceptance or rejection no later than March 1, 2008, and the approved organizers will later be asked to submit a final definite plan for the session by October 4 2008.
