The Department of Media and Communication was established in 1987 following a co-operation between the Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Social Studies.

Areas of research and teaching include ICT, digital media, internet, media aesthetics, history of the media, media policy and politics, communications theory, public relations, freedom of speech, ethics and journalism.
