Community of European Management Schools, CEMS, is a strategic alliance between 17 top European management schools and approximately 40 multinational companies. CEMS awards the one-year Master-degree CEMS MIM (Master in International Management). NHH has been a partner of CEMS since 1992. The partnership in CEMS is prestigious, and only one school from each country is awarded partnership. The Corporate Partner participate in relation to the academic elements within CEMS, but they also get a unique opportunity to recruit the best European students from the CEMS MIM.

CEMS is officially recognised by the EU commission as best practice-model for international management-education.

CEMS MIM

CEMS MIM, Master in International Management, is a one-year, international Master-degree developed and offered by the 17schools in the alliance. You have to be a student at the ordinary studyprogrammes of the schools in order to be able to apply for the CEMS MIM. At NHH CEMS MIM can be combined both with the "Siviløkonom"-program at NHH as well as with most profiles within the new Master of Sciende degree program.

CEMS MIM has been recognised by the European University Association, EUA and by the EU as "best-practice"-model for joint Master-degrees in Europe. The European labour market is starting to be well aware of CEMS MIM and among the corporate partners CEMS MIM-candidates are very attractive.

CEMS Academic partners

As part of CEMS' globalisation strategy the organisation has admitted four associated academic partners outside of Europe; Tech de Monterrey – EGADE in Mexico, Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Brazil, Universidad Torcuato de Tella in Argentina and Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada.

Students from these schools have the opportunity to take the CEMS MIM-programme by studying one year in Europe, at two different CEMS-schools. The first "global" CEMS-students started their CEMS MIM in the fall semester 2004.

CEMS Corporate partners

CEMS has approximately 50 corporate partners, CEMS Corporate Partners, that co-operate with the different schools in different ways. In Norway it is Hydro and Statoil who are corporate partnerrs, and they participate in the selection process for the CEMS MIM-program, in CEMS MIM-courses, Business Projects and Skills Seminars.

The possiblity to recruit excellent students is however the main reason for companies to be involved in CEMS. Every year a CEMS Career Forum is arranged at one of the CEMS-schools, and both CEMS-students and -Alumni are invited to this event. The CEMS Student Data Base is also a valuable tool for companies to get in touch with the CEMS-students.

CEMS Student Board
Each CEMS institution is represented by a student elected on the CEMS Student Board (SB)  The SB aims to a be a driver of the CEMS international student community and to promote the CEMS Community and organistation in general. The SB closely cooperates with the CEMS European Office, the Executive Board and the Alumni Association. The leader of the SB participates and votes in the CEMS Executive Board, this way the students have the possibility to influence the development of CEMS.

Maria.Hallberg@cemsmail.org  is NHHs representative in the CEMS Studentboard for 2005.

CEMS-Club Bergen
An important element of CEMS is the network. CEMS-students meet each other continually through exchange, internships, seminars, international events and later through alumni events. The students have also taken the initiativ to start local CEMS-clubs. Most schools now have their own CEMS-clubs.

CEMS Club Bergen (CCB) was founded in the fall of 2001 and has a board of 6 students.

CCB organise events to form closer ties between different stakeholders within CEMS. They also market the CEMS MIM-program to students, faculty at NHH and company representatives. The events are both social as well as acadmic, national and international.

More information can be found at www.cemsclub.com

Jan.Jordet@cemsmail.org is leading the CCB.

CEMS Alumni

"
The CEMS Alumni Association (CAA) enables the multicultural experience of CEMS graduates to be continued and developed. Founded in 1993 by CEMS graduates, the Association is a truly international network whose members maintain lasting contact with each other, whilst living and working throughout the world"

Since most of the Norwegian CEMS alumni live in Oslo, the CAA Norway has its base there. The Norwegian CAA does however not only focus on Norwegian CEMS alumni, but lives up to the international spirit by also gathering international CEMS alumni who live in Oslo. It is an important contact forum for CEMS foreigners who come to Oslo.

The CAA organises many event during the year, both professional oriented as well as social arrangements. This year it has organised events as:

- Traditional Summer Barbecue in Frognerparken.
- Annual meeting with dinner in December
- Monthly informal Thursday meetings – “Torsdagspils”
- Meeting with Shell – under preparation.

The CAA maintains a close contact to the home university NHH where it helps to promote and support the CEMS program. The CAA is present at the traditional CEMS reception in September and the CAA members contribute with their experience and expertise to the skill seminars at NHH.

The board of the CAA Norway consists of:
