Leading NSSS professor invited to China
One of the leading experts within pelvic floor muscle training,
professor, PhD Kari Bø, is invited to China to lecture about her training programe to prevent and treat urinary incontinens among women.
Bø is invited by professor professor Ziangno Wen from First Teaching Hospital of Zhengzhou to share her expertise and create a foundation for future project work in China.
Employee profile | - Enormous potential In addition to her lecture at First Teaching Hospital, she will also run two lectures at the Gynecology and Obstetrician Hospital at Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing.
- This cooperation has enormous potential, says Bø and refers to the fact that a cooperation can lead to better focus on the importance of structured pelvic floor muscle training in a country where there are so many births, although the individual birth rate is low (one child politics). |
- China may have a long tradition for this kind of training, unfortunately it has been neglected over the last years. My ambition is to help bring this tradition and knowledge back to life in more structured and scientific terms, she says.
Unique programme
Bø has almost 20 years of experience in this field and is considered to be the leading expert within her field.
Developed at Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in Oslo, her training programme is acknowledged and highly regarded worldwide, largely thanks to the combination of pelvic floor muscle training and exercises to strengthen other parts of the body.
- This programme also provides a thorough individual examination before the women attends a class training. That makes this programme unique compared to others, Bø says.
The lectures in China will take place between the 16th and 24th of April 2006.
