The IMF's assessment of the Norwegian economy

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) assesses the Norwegian economy as part of its regular surveillance of member countries. During the last few days, a delegation from the IMF has been visiting Norway to gather information about the economic and financial situation and to discuss economic policy.

The delegation has had meetings with the Ministry of Finance, other ministries, Norges Bank, other government institutions, the unions and employers' federations, the academic community and representatives of private financial institutions. The delegation presented its preliminary assessment of the Norwegian economy today.

The IMF will prepare a more comprehensive report that will be discussed by the IMF's Executive Board in June 2005.
