In 2008 it will be 200 years since the birth of Norway’s national poet, Henrik Wergeland. To commemorate this event, Norges Bank will issue a special edition circulation coin and a silver commemorative coin.

Norges Bank’s Executive Board decided today to leave its key policy rate unchanged. Norges Bank's key policy rate (sight deposit rate) thus remains at 5.00 per cent.

(31.10.2007) The Monetary Policy Report assesses the interest rate outlook and includes projections for developments in the Norwegian economy, analyses of selected themes and a summary of Norges Bank’s regional network. The Executive Board's assessment of the economic outlook and the monetary policy strategy are presented at the end of Section 1 in the report.
