Norges Bank's foreign exchange reserves
Management report for second quarter 2001
At the end of the second quarter of 2001, Norges Bank had foreign exchange reserves of NOK 154.1 billion, which was NOK 11.6 billion less than at the end of the first quarter. The decline is largely due to the fact that the Petroleum Fund buffer portfolio, which forms part of the reserves, was smaller at the end of the second quarter than at the end of the first. The largest individual portfolio in the foreign exchange reserves, the long-term portfolio, had a second quarter return of 0.02% measured in NOK, and of 0.68% measured in terms of the currency basket for the benchmark index. This was marginally higher than the benchmark index return in the same period.
