The IMF’s assessment of the Norwegian economy
Each year, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) assesses the Norwegian economy. During the last few days, a delegation from the IMF has visited Norway to gather information about the economic and financial situation and to discuss economic policy. The delegation has had meetings with the Ministry of Finance, other ministries, Norges Bank, other government institutions, the unions and employers federations, the academic environment and representatives of private financial institutions.
On Thursday, 6 December, the delegation presented its preliminary assessment of the Norwegian economy. The statement is available under More. The Minister of Finance has commented on the statement and his comments are available here.
The IMF will prepare a more comprehensive report which will be discussed by the IMF's Executive Board early in 2002.
