Molecular Medicine

Accept a challenge - discover the mysteries of the human body

Are you wondering how cells are affected by disease? Do you know how important nutrition is for a cell's gene expression? Could knowledge about genes help us to understand how medicines work on humans? Would you like to find out how cellular processes work and contribute to the development of tomorrow's medicine? In that case, Norway's first master's degree programme in molecular medicine is your right choice.

The field molecular medicine, or "tomorrow's medicine", seeks to provide a molecular understanding of how normal cellular processes either fail or are destroyed by different diseases. The purpose of the programme is to develop knowledge and skills useful in research and practical clinical work. In the long run, this will contribute to increased understanding of disease processes, diagnostics, and treatment. Molecular medicine is a rapidly changing field which requires interdisciplinary insight.

Would you like to employ a wide spectrum of scientific methods to understand how cellular processes work? In that case, Norway's first master's degree programme in molecular medicine is your right choice. Modern technology enables us to study thousands of genes at the same time (www.mikromatrise.no) and thus provides a basis for a totally new understanding of biological systems and the generation of hypotheses.

The teaching is provided by the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at NTNU in cooperation with the bioengineering programme at Sør-Trøndelag University College. Experts from other educational institutions with backgrounds from different fields will contribute to the teaching.
