Lasers and integrated optics are two important ingredients in my research. I did my PhD in Grenoble, France, at LEMO, a laboratory with long experience in integrated optics. My main research in Tromsø is on sensors using integrated optics. I am also participating in some smaller activites on noise in diode lasers, developement of an electronic thermometer and use of the Bluetooth radio for applications in home care.

I am mainly teaching two courses, Photonics and Measurement technology. The first course is closely related to my research, while I did my MSc at the University of Bergen in measurement technology. As can be seen, my current research is divided between these two fields (or rather: a combination).

As I have lived 5 years in France, I have aquired some knowledge of french. And I do appreciate the pleasures of France. Tromsø is of course very different from Grenoble. The only common point is probably the mointains surrounding the cities. Skiing is excellent both places!
