This symposium will bring together researchers from England, Germany and Norway who have worked with generational studies in their respective countries, in ways that connect biography, intergenerational relations and historical context. The aim is to compare the way in which different national socio-cultural contexts, especially in the after-war period, have shaped young men and women's appropriation of gender in their everyday lives and their transition to adulthood. The focus will be on the transition into adulthood/young adulthood and on the generations born under/after the Second World War and in the 1970s. The seminar is mainly for researchers who work within this field.
