Here is the place where you can find out why
you should publish your Master Thesis in full text over the Internet and how
you can do it easily.
What is Web-publishing?
Web-publishing
is the process of making a web document available to the public over
the Internet. In general, not all documents are necessarily intended to be
published on paper. Publishing a paper document implies steps such as making copies
available to multiple readers, telling readers where to pick them up,
ensuring enough copies are always available, removing them when document
is outdated.
Web-publishing allows a better, faster distribution of the document.
Who can do it?
NORAD Fellows are invited to submit their Master Thesis in full
text.
You can submit your thesis today, even if you wrote it several years
ago.
Why should you do it?
Your thesis will be archived as an electronic document and will be available in
the future for yourself and others via a permanent URL (web
address).
When you are applying for a job or you want to present your
thesis, it is easy to refer to it since its web address will never be
removed.
To publish on the internet will let you promote your skills to a large
audience.
This is a very inexpensive solution to a world wide diffusion of your
findings.
Your thesis is always available to someone who wants
to read it. It won't be necessary for the reader to wait for an available
paper copy of your thesis.
If the paper version of your thesis disappear from a
library, we are able to print it again.
How can you do it?
You write your thesis in a defined electronic format (.rtf or .doc
or .pdf) and send it to us via disk:
STEP, UB
Nygårdsgaten 5
N-5015 Bergen
or e-mail (elpub@ub.uib.no).
NB : Both disk and e-mail must be marked with your
full name and "NORAD Fellows".
The Research Documentation
Department at the University Library of Bergen can help you:
By using a style sheet when writing your thesis you get the possibility
of generating automatically a table of contents. If you choose to do so, you can
have a thesis well-structured and easier to browse for the reader. Click here to get
more information.

What will happen then?
You will be requested to sign a contract to let the University Library of
Bergen publish your work over the Internet and archive an electronic copy of
your work on a CD-ROM.
You
still have the intellectual copyright for it.
You will not be allowed to modify your
thesis once published.
Click here to get the agreement in .txt or in .doc.
Print it two (2) times. Sign the 2 agreements and send them to:
STEP, UB
Nygårdsgaten 5
N-5015 Bergen
A signed part of the contract will be returned to you. Remember to
enclose the address where we can return you your part of the
agreement.
The Research Documentation
Department will convert your thesis
to a .pdf-file, when appropriate and will archive an electronic copy of your
work on CD-ROM.
Your thesis will be linked from the "Theses
submitted by NORAD Fellows Database" (http://www.siu.no/noradrap.nsf/PublicThesisByCourse).
Your thesis will be linked from
BIBSYS
(http://www.bibsys.no/english.html) as an electronic item.
