The M. Phil. SNE is a full-time continuous two-year programme with a defined progression throughout the total study period. The first two semesters comprise a series of courses in Norway, whereas the third semester is a period of fieldwork/data collection in the student's home country (Quota Scholarship students). Self-financing Master's students (SFM) and Norwegian students may choose to conduct fieldwork/data collection in Norway or another relevant country for a shorter period. Students return to Norway for the fourth semester courses and the delivery of a thesis.

Individual courses, with the exception of SNE4390 Master's Thesis and SNE4230 Research Methodology, are also open to international exchange students.

You are expected to write a preparatory assignment prior to commencement of studies for the first course SNE4110. All courses are described in more detail in the course presentations.

A limited number of study visits will be arranged to expose students to the practice of special needs education in different relevant schools and other service institutions.
