Duration: 2003-2006
In organic farming system, Crop residue S is one of the sources of crop S requirement. Biochemical process involved in the S transformation is important not only for available S supply, but also for the maintenance of soil fertility. Through investigating the turnover of native organic S, the transformation of residues and S pool changes and S availability of organic fractions in different long-term agro ecosystems, a strategy of sustainable management of soil S can be suggested.
Objectives:
1. Assess long-term effects of agricultural management practices in organic farming system on the soil S pools, both physical pools in different aggregates, and chemical pools in different chemical forms as well as functional groups.
2. Study S transformation of residues management
3. Assess mineralization intensity and capacity of inorganic S
4. Investigate bioavailability of different fractions of organic S.
