Information for new PhD students

Bodil Norderval

Welcome as a new PhD-student to the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB). New PhD-students will find some practical information here.

International student?
You will find additional useful information at the International Office.

Identity card/Library card
You should have an identity card proving that you are working at UMB. This card also works as an electronic key card to most entrance doors and as a library card. In order to get an identity card you must have a requisition from the administration at your department. The identity card is issued by SIT (1st floor in the Economy building) and requires a photo. SIT will take your photograph for the card. In order to make an appointment, ask the Head of Administration about whom to contact at SIT.

Keys
The Head of Administration issues keys to your office door and to other places you may need to access. Please lock the doors outside normal working hours.

Parking
If you want to park your car on campus you need to have a special parking permit. You can get this at the reception in your department.

Sports
There are sports facilities on campus. If you want to take part in one or several of the sports activities, you are required to be member of the employees’ sports association and buy a sports hall card . Contact UMB-BIL.

Accommodation
Please contact SiÅs for student accomodation rooms, or DSA for UMB flats and houses.

UMB in general
We ask all students to check the homepage for information about UMB in general, education, research etc.
