TITLE: “PHYSICAL QUALITY OF DIFFERENT INCLUSION OF WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE INTO EXTRUDATE FISH FEED”
SUPERVISORS: METTE SØRENSEN (APC),
EIRIK SELMER-OLSEN (TINE)
In animal feeding operations today as it is aim to provide the animals their nutritional requirements by manufactured feed, on the other hand it is also important to achieve physical quality with the feeds which will increase the feed intake, reduce the costs and will provide better handling of the feed. It is also important to find alternative protein sources other then fish meal or soybean meal for the fish diets as the fish meal quality and availability may change in different periods and soybean meal have high content of indigestible material and anti-nutritive factors.
Therefore, in this study, it is aimed to understand any differences, which may occur in the physical quality of extruded fish feeds with different inclusion levels of whey protein concentrate (WPC-80) into the diets. In this respect a control diet, consisting of fish meal, wheat and four other diets consisting of additionally whey protein concentrates at different inclusion levels respectively, %5, %10, %15, % 20 have been extruded. This project is conducted between Aquaculture Protein Centre (APC) and TINE at the Agricultural University of Norway.
