At CIGENE we perform DNA extractions with a Qiagen M48 Bio-robot. This gives us good, clean and reliable high-quality DNA. In addition to this we also extract DNA, using various types of column and plate solutions.

We currently do not offer DNA extraction as a normal service, but for users with a small number of samples who lack easy access to DNA extraction facilities, we may be able to offer this in connection with SNP genotyping projects. DNA extraction prices.

DNA measurements

As most genotyping applications are sensitive to template amount, accurate measurements and normalization of DNA samples are important. We normally measure DNA concentrations for larger amounts of samples (in amplicons of 96 or 384) using PicoGreen and a plate reader (Victor3 –Perkin Elmer), while we measure fewer samples using NanoDrop.

We normalize the DNA samples by importing the text files from the Victor3 instrument into our Beckman Biomek-Fx pipetting robot and “automatically” adding the necessary amount of liquid to each sample to get an even DNA concentration.

If you have not measured your DNA samples by any of these two methods, we would prefer to measure and normalize your DNA concentrations prior to the SNP analyses. The higher the quality of the DNA, the less ambiguous the genotype data will be. Our prices.
