TITLE: Physical Quality of Extruded Feed with Different Soy Product
SUPERVISOR(S): Trond Storebakken, Mette Sørensen and Odd Helge Romarheim
Aquaculture Protein Centre is one of Norway's eleven Centres of Excellence. APC consists of scientists from the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (NVH), the Agricultural University of Norway (NLH) and the Institute of Aquaculture Research (Akvaforsk). NLH is the host institute.
The targets with these project in APC (Aquaculture Protein Centre) are to map how different extrusion conditions in extrusion fish feed production process, influence trypsin inhibitor activity (TIA), digestibility and physical quality of extruded fish feed with inclusion of low pre-heated soy meal (white flakes).
This gives a product with approximately 50% protein, and low or no reduction in TIA, influence of denaturation and gelatinisation on physical quality of extruded fish feed. Studying changes in physical pellet quality by inclusion of white flakes (WF) and soybean meal (SBM) in fish feed.
Experiment has been done in Centre for Feed Technology; ForTek experimental feed plant in Animal Department, Agricultural University of Norway (NLH).
