TITLE: “Effect of insoluble fibre on pellet quality”
SUPERVISOR(s): Harald Hetland and Birger Svihus.
The goal of this research is to evaluate physical quality characteristics of feed pellets and starch behaviour based on six different diets (oat-based and wheat-based) and to study the effect of insoluble fibre on pellet quality. The starch gelatinisation has been described as a water, temperature and time dependent process. The extent of starch gelatinisation of feed influence both digestibility and physical quality (pellet hardness and pellet durability). Special attention is put on searching for difference in a level of starch gelatinisation between core and surface of a pellet. Experiment has been done in The Centre for Feed Technology (Fôrtek), Norwegian University of Life Science (UMB).
