The University of Bergen is the data controller for personal data in the UiB Alumni Network database. Data are handled according to the terms of The Personal Data Act (Personopplysningsloven). The purpose of the Act is to protect natural persons from violation of their right to privacy through the processing of personal data. This privacy statement explains how UiB Alumni, which is a part of the UiB administrative systems, handle personal data of members of the UiB Alumni. The measures taken to protect the personal data are explained.

I. Aim and actors of UiB Alumni

To enable UiB Alumni to provide the above mentioned services to alumni members, an ICT tool in combination with UiB's administrative systems is used to handle the necessary data. The ICT tool is powered by Netenviron GmbH. The personal data is collected partly from the UiB administrative systems, partly from the members themselves.

Data are used for a full range of alumni activities, including distribution of University publications, the promotion of benefits and services to alumni, notification of alumni events and for programmes involving academic and administrative departments. Data may also be used in fundraising programmes, which could include an element of direct marketing.

III. Who has access to your personal data?
UiB Alumni is a network where all members have access to your personal data, unless you yourself have limited this access for part of the information. You can limit access to all personal data except your name and grade. The data will not be passed to external organisations.
