Chapter: Routing
From Computing Project Repository
Chapter on routing, bridging, and switching
This chapter covers what the intrinsic differences are between layer 3 forwarding ("routing") and layer 2 forwarding ("bridging"). For layer 2 forwarding it discusses the spanning tree algorithm and source route bridging. For layer 3 forwarding it discusses link state, distance vector, and path vector routing. It also discusses address format (IPv4, IPv6, as well as other protocols such as CLNP and Appletalk).
