Main areas of research

As part of the strategic plan of HSF 2006-2010 five areas of research are given priority. The five areas are:

• Organization and Leadership (Faculty of Economics, Languages and Tourism)
• Cultural Landscape (Faculty of Engineering and Sciences)
• Educational Research (Faculty of Teacher Education and Sports)
• Clinical Health Research (Faculty of Health Studies)
• Vocational Research (Faculty of Social Sciences)

Within these areas research groups will be established, and research leaders will be pointed out. The research leaders are financed through contributions from the institutional level.

HSF is cooperating with Vestlandsforsking (VF) to strengthen tourism research. Within this area HSF finances 75 per cent of a position as research leader for tourism research. HSF and VF has established Centre for Geotourism and Sustainable Development Research. Research cooperation between HSF and VF will also be developed within the usability research area involving human computer interfaces (HCI), information architecture and semantic web.
