Borrowing regulations for Telemark University College, the Library
Introduction
The prime function of the college library is to provide library services to the students and staff of Telemark University College. Other persons may borrow from the library collections and may visit the library in order to use the collections and the electronic services. Institutions may negotiate contracts with the library on the purchase of library services.
Borrower's card
The student identity card is also a library borrower's card. External users are required to show proof of identity before receiving a borrower's card. Borrowers are obliged to notifiy the library of any change of address, email address or telephone number.
Borrower's responsibility
The borrower is personally responsible for the material he/she has borrowed and for returning it within the specified date. Loss or damage of material must be reported to the library.
Borrowing period/reminders
The borrowing period is normally 4 weeks. There may be shorter borrowing periods for special types of documents or media.
Loans can be renewed provided that the document is not reserved for another user.
Reminders for reserved books will be sent out after 2 weeks' loan.
The lending regulations of the owner library apply for documents borrowed from other libraries.
All documents which are lent out by the University College must be returned to one of the campus libraries.
The first and second reminder will be sent by e-mail, if possible. The third reminder will be sent by post and will contain a warning on a demand for compensation.
Compensation
Lost or damaged material must be replaced either by a new copy or according to a set rate of compensation. Specially valuable material must be compensated in full. The Head Librarian decides the level of the compensation.
Penalties for infringement of the regulations
Users failing to observe the Borrowing Regulations may be suspended from further borrowing.
The Borrowing Regulations are available in the library, on the library's website and in the information received by new students.
