Open your IT user account
New students must activate their own IT user account and receive a userid and password for access to IT services. Senior students previously had two passwords, but from now on they will only use the password previously used for E-mail and the college computers, i.e. this password will from now on be used also for Arena, Classfronter and other systems.
Keep your password secret, never let anyone see it.
Userid and password
All students at Telemark University College (Hit) must have a user id and a password for IT services.
Your student number (6 digits) is your userid. You may specify your own password when you activate your IT user account, see below. You will find your student number on the the giro for the semester fee.
One password for all IT services
From now on you only need one password for access to E-mail, Classfronter, Arena, local network and other IT services. You may change your password, and you may create a new password if you forget the old.
The password must consist of at least 8 caracters, both letters and other caracters. Never use names and known words that may be guessed as password.
Keep your password secret. If anyone learn your password, thay may act on your account in the IT systems, cousing a lot of trouble for you. and others.
Memorize your password and never show it to others.
How do I get a userid and password?
All students, campus and remote, must have a userid and password for accessing college IT services.
To open your user account and set your password, you must know your social security number (11 digits) and your 6-digit student number (if your student number is 5 digits only, please add a zero as the first digit).

Please decide on a good password before you start this process (this will help you to remember it...). Note: At least 8 digits, a combination of letters, numbers and other caracters, no guessable names or words. You must also read and accept the rules for IT users at Telemark University College and confirm that you know the consequenses of breaking the rules.
Passwords from last semester may still be used
Senior students may use the old password previously used for accessing computers and E-mail at the college. This password must now also be used for Arena, Classfronter and other systems.
If you have forgotten this password you must contact the local IT support group. Afterwards, you may go to activating user account and specify a password, if you wish. During the password process, You may also enter your private email address (NOT the college address!). New passwords will then be sent to your private E-mail, should you forget your password again.
