The study programme focuses on the resources, wishes and choices of the disabled; in this context it is important that professional social educators have knowledge of health-promoting and professional social work, and an understanding of the connection between methodological work, social processes and the life quality of vulnerable groups. Theory and practice will be integrated in the teaching and learning methods. The programme includes a range of pedagogical tools with an emphasis on the students’ own activities and interaction. Portfolio assessment will be used throughout the study programme. The part-time study programme uses the same curriculum as the full time programme, but is organised over a period of four years.

Graduates will be able to seek positions as milieu workers within the health and social services, for instance, in home-based services, housing initiatives and institutions, and within the special health services. Furthermore, graduates may also seek positions in the educational and leisure sectors and with various employment projects. Social educators may also seek positions as caseworkers and supervisors. The Bachelor’s degree provides the necessary foundation for admittance to various Master’s degree programmes.
