Content:

This programme will enable students to gain an understanding of the characteristics of the development of Norwegian and World history. It will also encourage students to develop independent, open and inquiring attitudes concerning historical cause and effect. The programme may be studied as the fourth year of General Teacher Education.

Overview of World History before 1750 (10 ECTS)
Overview of World History after 1750 (10 ECTS)
Elective course in World History (10 ECTS)
Overview of Norwegian History before 1800 (10 ECTS)
Overview of Norwegian History after 1800 (10 ECTS)
Further course in Norwegian History (10 ECTS)

Teaching and learning methods:

Lectures and seminars. Each course is of one semester’s duration: World history in the autumn semester and Norwegian history in the spring semester.

Careers / further study:

The programme provides the basis for admission to Nordic History, 1-Semester, and may form part of the BA in History or other bachelor degrees. Students may apply for teaching positions in primary and secondary schools. See ‘Careers / further study’ under BA in History.
