Content:

The one-year programme is equivalent to the first year in the Bachelor programme Text, Communication and Culture. Text as a form of communication is the main theme of the programme. The concept of text includes oral, written and composite texts. In the programme, we will study how texts are constructed and which norms apply to text creation and text understanding. The main emphasis in the one-year programme will be on writing, speech, discourse and dialogue. The course unit Practical Writing and Speech may be conducted in either Norwegian or English. Historical, social and cultural conditions are reflected in texts, and the programme also addresses how texts are used to help create, maintain and challenge these conditions.

Course units:

• Examen Philosophicum 10 ECTS • Practical Writing and Speech (English or Norwegian) 10 ECTS • Text-Theory and Text-Analysis 10 ECTS • Cultural Analysis I 10 ECTS • Discourse and Dialogue 10 ECTS • Examen Facultatum 10 ECTS

Teaching and Learning Methods:

The programme includes lectures, seminars and practical exercises. Heavy emphasis is placed on submitted exercises and oral presentations. The course units are of one-semester duration.
