Content:

Natural Sciences 2 adopts a general approach to the subject and includes topics from the various natural sciences’ subjects, biology, chemistry, physics and geosciences. The courses include practical assignments and theoretical studies. The programme builds on Natural Sciences 1 or equivalent knowledge. Students will be able to use and develop the knowledge they acquired in Natural Sciences 1 in the study of new topics in Natural Sciences 2, and learn to use this knowledge to plan and carry out varied and adapted teaching at various levels in primary and lower secondary schools.

• Human biology and health
• Biogeography (general, Arctic and Mediterranean)
• Plant-physiology, genetics and gene technology
• Weather, climate, atmosphere and Northern Lights
• Practical physics, nuclear physics and astrophysics
• Chemistry

Teaching and learning methods:

The programme will be carried out in the autumn and spring. It includes varied teaching and learning methods and emphasis will be given to training on the use of ICT. Biogeography includes a one-week field course in the Mediterranean region in the springtime. Evaluation includes assignments and a written examination at the end of each semester.
