Content:

Students may apply directly to enrol on this programme after completing their secondary education. The programme emphasises the development of individual expression through creative work using a variety of materials and techniques. Theory is mainly taught through the students’ own work, in relation to teaching art and crafts as well as aspects of art and design.

Programme elements:
Basic methods and theoretical topics (5 ECTS)
Drawing (10 ECTS)
Sculpture (10 ECTS)
Utility forms (10 ECTS)
Art and design (10 ECTS)
Project (15 ECTS)

Teaching and learning methods:

Through supervised workshop sessions, theory and subject didactics will be related to the students’ own creative work. The instruction includes lectures, demonstrations, seminars, study groups, project work and visual presentations. The use of exhibitions and other cultural initiatives in schools and the local community will form an integral part of the programme. The programme includes teaching practice in primary / lower secondary school in the form of ‘school take-over’ for one week, with both preparatory and reviewing assignments. The programme also includes an obligatory excursion.

Careers / further studies:

The programme may form part of the 4-year General Teacher Education or the 4-year Practical and Arts Subjects programme, or as continuing education for teachers. Due to some overlapping, this programme may not be taken as a part of the Subject Teacher: Education in the Arts, but may be used as admission requirement for that programme.
