Content:

Students learn to develop visual expression and will achieve a basic understanding of visual communication and mediation in relation to 2-dimensional work and design. The programme concentrates on drawing, painting, graphics, photography and digital photography.
The programme consists of:
Image creation, design, image theory and analysis (35 ECTS)
Art and design culture, aesthetic theory and facilitation (15 ECTS)
Specialised studies in subject material (10 ECTS)

Teaching Methods:

Through supervised workshop sessions, theory will be related to the original work of students. The programme consists of lectures, demonstrations, seminars, study-groups, project work and visual presentations. The use of exhibitions and other cultural initiatives in schools and the local community will also form part of the programme. The programme also includes an obligatory study tour.

Careers / further studies:

Drawing may be taken as a separate one-year programme or as the first year of the BA in Visual Arts and Design. The programme also qualifies for admission to BA, Subject Teacher: Education in the Arts and for further study in the subject at Telemark University College. The programme may also be taken during the 4-year General Teacher Education and 4-year Subject Teacher: Practical and Arts Subjects, and as an area of specialised study for teachers.
