Content:
This programme provides an introduction to the fundamentals of general chemistry and chemical processes, before specialising in gas technology. The programme includes laboratory experiments and computer-based simulations. Students may choose supplementary courses in IT or economics and management.
Year 1
Chemistry & Environment w/lab work (15 ECTS). Physics (10 ECTS). Petroleum Technology, Health, Environment & Safety and Organic Chemistry (5 ECTS). Mathematics I (10 ECTS). Applied Mathematics w/Thermodynamics project (10 ECTS). Project Methods w/IT (10 ECTS).
Year 2
Fluid Mechanics & Dynamics (10 ECTS). Instrumental Analysis (lab.) (10 ECTS). Project Management & Finance (10 ECTS). Separation & Heating Technology with HYSYS project (10 ECTS). Weight & Energy Assessment (10 ECTS). Thermodynamics, Physical Chemistry & Alternative Energy Systems (10 ECTS).
Year 3
Statistics (10 ECTS) Gas, Energy & Heat w/lab (10 ECTS). Project K5 /Student Business (10 ECTS). Process Design (10 ECTS). Technical Safety (5 ECTS). Elective (5-10 ECTS). Main Project (10-15 ECTS)
Career / Further Study
Successful candidates will be able to apply for positions in the fields of process development, computer control and product development in the chemical-processing industry. Candidates may also apply for positions in health institutions, controlling working environments and in the field of environmental protection. Students may also apply for admission to Civil Engineering Masters Programmes in Energy and Environmental Technology or Process Technology at Telemark University College or other university colleges or universities in Norway and abroad.
